REUSE....

When we decided to build MTBCity, we didn’t have a choice but to be creative and reuse whatever we could. I’d cashed in my 401K to pay for the property and from there it was all sweat and blessings. One of the first things to come our way was the picnic shelter. I found it listed on Craigslist for $100 but we had to figure out how to move it ourselves since the bids were in the $10k range. It was in the mountains nearby and the Forest Service was going to bulldoze it to widen a road and improve drainage. We had NO IDEA what we were doing but we learned.

The photos below show you what a couple rednecks with an old F150, a generator, a sawzall and a bunch of good friends can accomplish.

We managed to salvage even some of the purlins from the cabin.

This is what the cabin looked like the first time we saw it.

We did lots wrong in our journey to salvage the cabin, but we eventually got it right.

A great place to rest when it gets chilly.
