It ain't about the money...

We know money is required to survive, and so we have other endeavors to facilitate prosperity. MTBCity was never about making money. Seeing it empty so much due to the pandemic panic has reinforced our motivation. The emptiness is a reminder of how much we enjoy our guests. One of the highlights of our summer days is waling out to the picnic shelter to say “good morning” and discovering the global collection of bikepackers and riders that ended up here together. The stories and insights they share make our mornings interesting and our evening campfires lively. We enjoy tidying up and making sure everything is in working order for the day. We enjoy making sure they are taken care of and have the information they need to get the most from their day.

We created MTBCity after 20 years and 43 countries worth of international business travel so we could share our culture and continue to experience the culture of the global community. Last year was a wonderful experience of sharing and we hope next year will be again.

In the meantime we continue to make it the perfect respite for riders. We’ve planted 20 new trees this year and have 5 volunteers including some cottonwoods. We’ve added three native plant gardens along with yucca and more mountain big sage. The wood stove is wildly popular and we created a work bench to make repairs easier.

Here’s hoping next summer is a summer full of guests that brighten our days.
